Aaleyah: Intimations of a Mother

By Faith Mutagubya

Something that amazes me about children. Today I appreciate the important gift God has given me. A CHILD. Talking about Babies, I want to look at the brain of a child in more details. How does their brain work? Do they really understand what they do or what they see?

I have been to so many parks and have had a chance to baby-sit little babies. Many parents especially mothers will kiss their babies before they leave the house and when they come back the first thing they want to ask their babies is, how they have been and, “oh, you look beautiful!” or “did you miss mama?” My biggest question has been; “do they really understand what those mothers are asking? and if they had a chance to answer, what would they tell their parents?

Having a baby this year, I have got to that point of thinking that I have this special connection with my baby and I am actually the one who has been missing her, when I ask “ did you miss mama?”. Babies on the other hand might be really grasping what they are told and I know from other specialists that their brains develop everyday. One of the things we can look at and know that they have a mature brain is when they smile back at us when we say something nice to them or about them. They are even encouraged to do that thing the more.

  1. Faith, Babies are very interesting. It is proves the word that we were formed before we were born. The child has a mature brain in a young body!!!
