Innocent and Pure

By Faith Mutagubya

Why are we so complicated human beings, why aren’t we simple, living a simple life with our fellows? Sometimes I wonder how on earth we would be like God; “made in his image?”. Could he be as complicated, maybe we just haven’t known that. I will say my mind about the issue of being safe with all people, in details, drawing from babies as examples of this subject.

Such innocent creatures; who can find? They are as pure as doves? Babies do whatever they do without faking it. They smile to any body without being selective of who is their friend and who is not. They will surrender to anyone who carries them without leaving part of their heart some where else. Unless it is those rare kids who will scream on top of their lungs when they are picked up by a stranger, kinds like the one I have, don’t even realize if they are with a stranger or a friend. They will keep smiling and kicking. They will accept anything however small it may be as long as its given to them. There’s one baby I saw with her Dad having fun and this guy thought that if he loved ice cream, even his baby would totally be interested. In the end he decided to share with his kid; the toddler happily opened her mouth without even thinking of ice cream’s side effects to her.

The truth is we are totally dependant on God the same way babies are dependant on their parents. Could man on earth be in the same way like that new born baby? Could we trust our fellows without a second thought. Would we be pure in hearts: in cases where people invited us for dinner; wouldn’t we think that they were asking for a helping hand in some way?. Well, sometimes we should be careful about who we should relate with but we should also remember that God knew that all people will be different but he still would really love it if he looked down on earth and there was harmony amongst his people. It takes cleaning our hearts so they are as pure and as innocent as that of a little baby to be as God wants us to be.
